Below is an email received from a reader of Qlocal who is furious that a relative allegedly caught Scabies while a resident in Asmall Hall Care Home.

In August a warning was issued about the outbreak.

I moved a loved one out of Asmall Hall Care Home on 21 October 2016 as I had grave concerns about their care.

I was totally unaware that there had been a resident with Scabies at the home in August, until I read your brief news report online in December.

Six to seven weeks after I moved my loved one out of Asmall Hall Care Home my relative has been diagnosed with Scabies, which takes between six to seven weeks to incubate.

He left Asmall with a skin rash on his back and some cream had been put on by care staff. I was not informed as to what this rash could be and had no sight of this being recorded on a care plan.

It is obvious that my loved one contracted Scabies prior to their departure from Asmall Hall, from an infected resident. No mention was made to me at any time that a previous resident had had Scabies.

Absolutely livid as my loved one is now in isolation at new care home with Scabies, contracted from Asmall Hall Care Home, due to inadequate infection control. My relative has had beautiful skin all their life until now.

The floor they are on has been closed for a week in new care home and no visitors have been able to visit, which is the correct procedure
