Southport travel to Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday looking for a positive result after the postponement of last week’s match against Telford United.

It is the start of what promises to be an important run of matches for the Sandgrounders in a tightly-packed Vanarama National League North table with 14 games of the season remaining.

Gainsborough come into the game under new management, after a 5-0 defeat to Bradford Park Avenue resulted in the sacking of Dave Frecklington, despite him having won his previous two matches.

Nathan Jarman takes the reins as caretaker player/manager for the day with no permanent replacement as yet confirmed.

The postponement of last week’s match gave new signing Mekhi McLeod and the returning Ross Sykes the opportunity to train with their new team-mates before being thrust into action, and it remains to be seen whether they will be called into action at the first opportunity.

The new additions will be hoping to have a positive impact, and help their new team start off this crucial month with the win that is required.
