During the Whitsun half-term holiday, Sefton will be a hive of fun, affordable things to do for children, young people and families.



Active Sefton will be causing “Mayhem” as the Be Active programme brings a host of physical activities for children and young people age 2-16 years old.

There will be ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Sing’ Dance Mash up workshops, non-stop activity days, all new ‘come and try’ sessions featuring gymnastic and archery and a pre-school swimming crash course.

Aiming High

The Aiming High for Disabled Children are inviting to all pupils (and their families) with special educational needs and disabilities to attend their Family Fun Day at Rowan Park School on 2 June, 10am-2pm.

While the Aiming High’s half-term activities require families to be registered with the service, the Family Fun Day is open to all and is an opportunity to register with the service and enjoy a host of fun activities, which this year come with support from the Children with Additional Needs (CWAN) Network. Children and young people age 0-19 can enjoy The Animal Man, storytelling, face painting, bouncy castles, arts and crafts and Rowan Adventure Park.

Parks & Greenspaces

Parks and Greenspaces teams are hosting two Community Fun Days at Bedford Park in Birkdale, 31 May and Orrell Mount in Bootle, 2 June.

Community Parks Officers are hosting lots of fun activities, including go-carts, pony rides, bouncy castles, face painting and arts and crafts. The main aim of the fun days is to bring local communities closer together and enjoying their parks.

Sefton Coast

Sefton’s coastline will be packed with activities during the half-term break and you’re sure to find something for your children to enjoy at the events calendar on the 2017 – The Year of Sefton’s Coast website

Even in May, there are no guarantees with the British weather, so it is good to know there will be plenty of indoor pursuits to occupy children of all ages.

Sefton Libraries

Sefton’s libraries will continue to host story time clubs for younger children, as well as numerous arts and crafts sessions – if you visit the Library Service webpages on the Sefton Council website you will find details of your local library.

The Atkinson

The Atkinson in Southport will be a hive of cultural activities, where children and young people can let their imaginations loose at exhibitions as they visit the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt or take a dip into the deep blue sea to take in the stories of the ocean and discover Sefton’s historic coast. A comedy club for kids will take place on 27 May, while Shark in the Park brings the books of Nick Sharratt to life on stage for 2-6 year olds. This colourful performance will take place 2 June, with tickets priced £9, £7 and £5.

Splash World

The all weather indoor water park located in the heart of Southport is open over half term. Even better news is that their loyalty card is back! Ditch The Stabilisers

Back by popular demand during the May half term school holidays, Sefton Council is proud to offer a number of ‘Ditch Those Stabilisers’ cycling events. Children aged four and above can learn to ride a bike unaided at sessions in Litherland and Southport.

These events are always popular with a very high success rate and staff from the Council’s highway safety team will offer a range of practical advice to young riders and their parents. Sessions are free but pre-booking is essential.

Join the team at Litherland Sports Park, Boundary Lane on Tuesday, 30 May between 9am-12pm or Shoreside Primary School, Westminster Drive on Thursday, 1 June from 9am to 12pm.
