Sefton Council is encouraging anyone who uses the borough's roads and footpaths to take part in a new survey starting on April 1.
The three-month consultation includes questions on the condition of the roads, street lights, traffic congestion and pollution and the rights of way network. This is a unique opportunity to have your say on how you think these could be improved and what your priorities are.
Jerry McConkey, Service Manager for Transportation & Highway Infrastructure, said: “It would be great if people could take part in this consultation as it’s important to hear a range of views.
“You don't even have to live in Sefton to take part, as we are seeking the views of anyone who works or travels through the area, and all the feedback will be considered for future service development.”
It’s quick and easy to complete the survey online at www.engagespace.co.uk/sefton
Alternatively, you can complete a paper copy and return it by the closing date of Friday, July 8. To get a copy of the survey in a different format please email YourSeftonYourSay@sefton.gov.ukor call 0151 934 3375.

Need a survey to find this out?
Go take a look at the west end of Weld Rd by the Fishermans Rest pub, without doubt the worst stretch of road in Sefton, what a disgrace!

They`ve sorted that problem though, by reducing it to a 20MPH zone.

I think this is a perfectly sensible idea but as usual draws out the pre - requisite (for this site) number of moaning beggars.
Getting feedback from the users of a facility surely is a good thing.

Maybe SouthportGB could post a pic of the section of Weld Road we are commenting on, as the pic of a road shown in this thread is nothing in comparison.

The moaners probably won't even bother to fill the survey in

All Managers of the Council should have served two minimum of two years in a commercial business workplace before giving them any authority to make decisions on the behalf of our community. As it stands they can hide behind a wall of accountability. I mean, do we need a survey for the obvious, what jobsworth had the 20 mph idea, I could go on, but

I have to say that although I think some of our roads are unacceptably knackered, driving through Styal (by Manchester Airport) the other weekend the roads were in states not too shy of farm tracks. It's quite a lah-de-dah area, and for once all the daft Range Rovers and Q7s boating around the place were almost justified.

It's a picture of Tesco's sliproad. Is that even the council's responsibility?

When Southport merged with other councils along with Bootle, the roads in Southport were in general in a worse condition than other roads within the newly formed borough of Sefton.
Southport were known as the 'Tar and Chip Authority' and were a laughing stock within the local authority community.
They didn't become one of the lowest rated county borough councils in the country for nothing.
Having said that I agree 'that the roads now are a complete laughing stock' and if the technical services department are really asking the local community for 'their views', then they should be considering their 'roles' and maybe new vocational jobs should be sought.
