Southport FC striker John Paul Kissock has been sold to Blue Square Premier rivals Luton Town today.

Kissock who joined Sandgounders last season from Formby FC has switched to Luton after an impressive spell with Liam Watson’s side.
21 year old Kissock has put pen to paper on a 2 year contract with Luton and joins up with former Sandgrounders manager Gary Brabin.
The Luton Club statement said the transfer fee is undisclosed due to a request from Southport.
Luton have let Godfrey Poku and Dan Walker go the other way and they have joined Sandgrounders on loan until December.
Gary Brabin said: "I’m delighted to welcome John Paul to the Club. He’s a wonderful player, a crowd pleaser, who works hard and has terrific ability.
He has enormous potential and we hope he will achieve big things at the football club. We’ve known about him for a while and only last week he showed what he’s capable of when playing against us.”
Sandgrounders Club statement said: When the player agreed to sign a contract in January it was on the strict understanding with the manager and the club that should a club show an interest in signing JP we would advise him immediately and we would not stand in JP’s way if he wished to speak to the club concerned assuming the two clubs agreed terms.
The club received an enquiry from Luton Town during this week their manager Gary Brabin has worked in the past with JP coaching him at Everton, the clubs having agreed terms gave JP permission to speak to Luton which he did earlier today and has agreed personal terms and has joined Luton Town FC.

Undisclosed due to a request from Southport
Not heard that one before!

The only player that seemed to have the ability to function in the Blue Sq Prem.
At least the financial input (yet again undisclosed) will soften the blow of relegation.

Kissock's departure doesn't come as any surprise to me. Watson's so called new look side on Tuesday, against Gateshead, included 9 players who were in last years side. They weren't good enough to avoid relegation then so why should they be this time round? Kissocks departure only confirms what I already thought - the club have no ambition. I have watched them for many years through good and bad times but this is too much for me. I will not be going again while the club continues to display such lack of ambition

What a joke we have just let go our best player, we are going to do nothing until Clapham realises that to make this club a success he needs to spend real money and get a manager in who knows what he's doing.
PS: CLAPHAM YOU ARE A DISGRACE FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO THIS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
CLAPHAM is not a disgrace' HE.S comment removed DISGRACE' watson out NOW' RAY STAFFORD IN'
-
One of few players we had with class. I was there on Tuesday... sadly disappointed more so now, the two players brought in are untried youngsters wonder how they feel ? together with matchstick legs leon osborne who I noticed didnt even bother to warm up before he came on as sub .... poor show and unless we find players with physical strength and experiance ( a forward urgently) we might as well surrender now.And just two weeks into the season I didnt want to hear Liam telling the press that we were down to 'barebones' .... !!!
And JP thanks for your short spell the two incredible goals last of which against Lincoln was unbelievable. You are joining Baker Duffy Noone etc in leaving a sinking ship with Captain Clapham on the rocks
-
Good luck JP you've been worth the entrance money on your own. Now everyone lamenting his departure, move on & get behind the team.
-
Great ambition shown once again.......Clapham moans about the lack of support through the gates................i wonder why,he realy is a man with no ambition who runs a club who's only contribution to the towns football scene is the fact that they can provide a decent venue for the real footballers of the town to show of their skills when participating in the Southport&District League cup finals.............

I'll say it again "relegated by bonfire night"

But still you lot will pay a massive £12 to watch Sunday league football and still be treated like idiots from the chairman. Why won't the control freak tell the supporters how much they got paid for Kissock? Pay up, turn up and Shut up
Clap trap clapham OUT
OTS in

Good luck JP, I hope this move takes you into the football league but I think Preston NE should have taken you on.
As for Southport it is not acceptable to hide the transfer fee from the fans. This is Clapham again hiding the money that should be ploughed back into the team.
This club is run like the Secret Service but we will find out about this transfer fee by other means.
I will be not be attending any more matches this season until we are in the top half of the table, should save quite a few bob.

So let me get this right. Kissock only came to Southport on the understanding that he would be off as soon as a proper team club showed interest in him. What a way to run a football club.
-
We need to do something as fans of this club, I cant watch by and let this club get humiliated and joked about anymore. We have just let go our best player, He did an interview when he signed for Luton he said he was getting ready for training then watson rang him up and said don't bother turning up your joining Luton, what a manager we have, it seems no one has ambitions at this club except the fans.
PS: CLAPHAM OUT WATSON OUT EVERYONE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clapham out ots or mauveboy in!!!!!

Kissock had the opportunity to join other clubs for more money, but chose Southport as he was assured if a bigger club came in for him with a decent offer he could go with the clubs blessing.
I call that an honest way to run a club.

As Gary Brabin said: "John Paul is a wonderful player, a crowd pleaser, who works hard and has terrific ability" he also had great influence on the rest of the Southport players and was inspirational and motivational when playing and when taken off early the difference was noticible as Southport would become somewhat lack-lustre, he will be sorely missed. Good Luck JP. Now this is the time for Southport fans to get behind SFC and give the support they need and not leave like rats on a sinking ship, take the rough with the smooth, i'll admit there's been a lot of rough but, what are true fans for!

The ship has already sunk Isaac! I have watched Port since 1961 and I can honestly say that I have NEVER felt as despondent as I do at the moment about things. Here we are given a 2nd chance in this league and what happens, more of the same. The club just doesn't learn! If we are to have any chance in this league we have to spend some money and bring in some quality. The players that have arrived are no better than the players who finished 4th from bottom last year. Add to this the fact that we let our best players leave and what have you got - relegation! It's time the club was honest with loyal fans by telling supporters how much we got for Kissock. Tell supporters whats going on Charlie, just once in your life!
-
Never say never! the ships not down until we've all drowned but you talk a lot of sense Johno2. good lad!

It beggars belief that supporters can see no further than Liam Watson, take your blinkers off and join the call for change. There are plenty of experienced footballers out there that would love to take over, it didn't do Gary Brabin any harm in his short spell at Southport.
The club expressed a desire to progress to full time professional status, you cant do that with a part-time manager.
We need a manager who's whole time job is on the line if the team is not performing, Watson would just go back to his day job.
This team was put together by Watson and it is worse than last year. Watson is always saying he will only sign players who are better than what we have got, not true, players have been signed who have yet to start a match. His new signings should have formed the team that started the season but the're just a load of bench warmers.
Supporters can show their loyalty to the club by calling for the sacking of Watson, we need a new direction on the pitch before its too late.
WATSON OUT.
