Staff and students at King George V College are celebrating another year of excellent A level results.
9% of students achieved A* and A grades in one or more subject and 70% achieved high grades all 3 subjects! An impressive number of subjects secured 100% pass rates including Physics, Psychology, Art, Geography and Philosophy and many achieved over 50% A*-B grades including Law, French and Sociology.
The college also received a 100% pass rate for BTEC Advanced Level Extended Diplomas with over 90% of these at Distinction grade or above.
KGV Principal Anne-Marie Francis said:
"We could not be happier! Such exceptional results reflect the hard work and dedication of King George V students and staff. This year group faced real challenges sitting the newly reformed and much tougher A Level examinations and they are truly a credit to the college, their families and themselves. Equally our BTEC students have excelled themselves, securing very impressive high grades. Our students have achieved such excellent results that many will now have their free choice of university including prestigious Russell Group destinations. We know all our leavers will go onto great things and we wish them every success."
Ronnie Fell, Chair of Governors added:
"I’d like to congratulate all students and staff, whose hard work and commitment has produced such impressive outcomes.
A level results like this demonstrate the quality of education available at King George V College."

Congratulations to all those at KGV who have got the results they wanted today, all the hard work has paid off.
To those who are disappointed; don't lose heart. Clearing can be a blessing in disguise and you may end up on a course that suits you perfectly. Or if Uni is not for you, remember that getting on the career ladder now can be a huge advantage. And having little or no qualifications never hurt the likes of Sir Alan Sugar, Sir Richard Branson or the great buffoon Jeremy Clarkson ..... sorry, I meant Corbyn.

"9% of students achieved A* and A grades in one or more subject"
Overall, something like 20% of A level grades are A or A* - it varies hugely between subjects, and it is a different stat. But I reckon you can surmise that 9% is average at best.
