The intimidating black clad "environmental enforcement officers" have once again handed out a fixed penalty notice to an OAP who dropped a cigarette butt.

They were not given the chance to pick it up. #instantjustice

Having arrived minutes earlier on a coach trip they said they will not be returning to Southport and will warn their friends of the Gestapo like tactics of these council workers.

Question for John Pugh or any of the other elected members, are you going to let this discrimination continue where these so called litter wardens target the elderly and ignore the filth left behind by the orange lodge followers and travellers? or are you going to stick your head in the Southport sand until the Sefton loonies have destroyed this town and killed off tourism completely.

Feel free to answer on this public forum.

Good. We don't want litter louts here.
They were not given the chance to pick it up. #instantjustice
Good. Maybe they'll think twice about dropping litter next time. If they know they can get away with it by picking it up when caught they'll continue to drop litter on the likelihood they might not be caught.
If you're caught shoplifting you don't get let off if you offer to pay.

It would make my day if the next lone/elderly target turned out to be an ex boxer/cage fighter & wiped the floor with these uniformed bullies.

Agree as regards litter, however our "enforcement officers" appear very selective in who they target, your ref regarding shoplifters, any first offender is unlikely to get more than a warning, if that, plus of course there is a great deal of difference between a lack of thought and a premeditated theft.

Surely it is far better to have the "offender" correct his/her error and go off with a warning, than the gung-ho how many can we catch today routine.

Send them to Foul Lane because if they refuse to patrol Council property then they should be sacked on the spot!

Is a warning going to stop them from dropping litter the next time if they think a warden isn't going to see them? You might as well just employ a team of cleaners to follow litter louts and sweep up after them if all you're going to do is give them a warning.
I'd rather see the gung ho attitude applied across the board to young, old , locals, visitors, travellers, orange lodge supporters 24/7 365 days a year.

There's your problem, where are these guardians of our streets when the Orange Lodge parade and as for going within shouting distance of the rabble masquerading as travellers, you have got to be joking, no chance, let's tackle some elderly or lone individual who won't react forcibly.

Sure apply an even hand across the board and I will applaud, but as long as they play selection by vulnerability they don't get my support, this gang are similar to the wheel clamper bullies who are now illegal.
