The memorial that appeared after the Manchester Bomb blast in memory of Saffie Rose Roussos, eight, and Georgina Callander, 18 has been removed from St Marks Square in Tarleton the day before the the funeral of Saffie in Manchester .

Local residents are furious and have taken to Facebook to vent their anger.

Hi..we can see all memorial items, bows, flowers, candles etc have been removed from Marks Square this morning..whilst I understand this is not public land it has been an area of congregation for the village these last few months and has offered comfort to the two local families and friends of Saffie and Georgina.

It is just over two months since both girls died in extreme circumstances and whilst I think we all know ribbons, tributes etc cant stay up forever the idea was to respectfully remove these items and give to the families before the schools returned in September so children could have a fresh start, the families we know will never be the same again.
It is Saffies funeral tomorrow Wednesday and there is a short service arranged at Tarleton Church and then friends of Saffie, their parents and local people wanted to lay flowers a few tributes or just pay their respects in Marks Square to say goodbye as the funeral is in Manchester and some children would cope with the funeral, some wouldnt...so this local spot was a place for thought where the vigil and subsequent respectful silences had been held for the girls.
I am quite saddened that this area could not stay as it was for just another month to pay respects and then removed by family, friends of the families etc in the respectful way it was all laid there.
The families know it isnt and never was a permanent fixture and back to school time seemed the appropiate time to remove..
Does anybody know where this has all been taken to please..as obviously people have laid items, messages etc that we were going to give to the families..all we know is a black pick up came and took it all away this morning.
Thank you
Felling very saddened

I hope someone gets to the bottom of this, am interested to know their reasons for doing this? Have they had complaints? Did they just wake up this morning and decide to do it? Are they actually that stupid that they didn't think to check when Saffie's funeral is?!

Apparently one person has signed an indemnity taking responsibility for the memorial. They signed to say that the memorial would be removed & that date has passed.
It is not a moderator of this group or the admin, it is not a member of the admin team on the memorial page Two Villages One Community.
A single individual has taken responsibility, an individual on behalf of the community, without any consultation with members of the community, apparently.

Still a disgusting decision to take this action on the eve of Saffie's funeral. The obvious comfort & support that it has provided for both families. I would have expected more from a business that has been part of this community for a long time. An indemnity or not, common decency & sensitivity have been seriously overlooked on this issue.
