If you are going to The Open make sure you take a picnic with you unless you are prepared to pay vastly inflated prices for your food.

A small portion of fish and chips will set you back an eye watering £10 plus another £2 for a fizzy drink.

    Pint of Stella was £5.50.

On the plus side security was tight and there is plenty to do apart from watching the golf.

So just like any big event then.
I paid £2 for a bottle of pop from an ice cream van on the sea wall the other day.

My God roving. get a grip. It's no different to anything else like this.

Glad we're not going, don't fancy £72 for fish and chips!
-Edit, with a drink each before some bright spark corrects my maths.

It's not a "rip off." Prices are advertised. If you don't like them don't pay 'em. Simple.

Greed - pure and simple, I might also add, these people are not local's!

  8. VB123 says:16/07/2017 06:49 PM
Blimey, you need to go to a few local, mediocre, restaurants to see what they are charging if you think that is expensive. I would expect to pay those prices at a major event. Maybe the reporter doesn't go out much.

  9. FormbyHightown says:16/07/2017 07:18 PM
It was £4 for a pre-packed cheese salad sandwich at the cricket the other week.

    Didn't buy one.

It is a WORLD Event expect to pay prices accordingly. £5.50 a pint normal in many a pub in London, FFS get a grip with your reporting it's the OPEN one of the major events in sport.

If you don't want to pay don't go and STOP moaning.

Exactly! It is great to see Southport so busy already.

The biggest golf event in the entire world comes to Southport and all you can do is be negative about the price of food.

This website should be closed, it does nothing to promote the town, whatsoever!

World class sporting event , something any place on the planets would want and the Lemons on here whine. My God get a bloody life .
