Southport Conservative Club became sole leaders in emphatic style this week of Division One in the Ormskirk & District Amateur Snooker League. They ended their evening with a superb 6-0 away demolition of Stanley Club A to make it five wins on the bounce and preserve they impressive 100% start to the campaign. They now hold a two point advantage at the top of the table. This match also saw Southport's Chris Hoare clinch this week's 'Break of the Week' accolade with a terrific break of 57 in his frame success. This was the second time in the last three weeks he has took the prize.

Chris's break began with nine reds remaining in the frame after his opposite number left him a decent opportunity and he certainly didn't disappoint. He took a fine opening red screwing through a relatively small gap to gain excellent black ball position. Chris potted the black and proceeded to pot a further five reds, all with high valued colours mainly blacks, in his usual fluent style and superb positional play. After dispatching his next red, he screwed up the table purposely to leave a half ball blue to enable him to stun into the reds and open up the small remaining cluster. Chris produced this with little effort and the reds opened beautifully for him and a very large contribution became a distinct possibility. He potted his next red but sadly narrowly missed the black ball to bring an premature end to his break but still a very classy effort from a fine player.

Chris made his debut in the Ormskirk League at the commencement of the 2014-15 campaign but has played in our neighbour league, the Southport League since the start of the 2007-08 campaign. Chris has been part of the Les Dodd SC/Southport Conservative Club team since then as they captured the First Division crown in all three seasons he has played and now play and represent Southport Conservative Club from late last year.

Olympic BC continue to produce the results and also made it five victories in a row with a 4-2 away win at the expense of Skelmersdale Wardens A. The match saw the Skelmersdale Wardens team win two of the frames from a snooker required stage as it could easily of been a full house for the Walton outfit. Despite maintaining their 100% record, the Olympic BC B side dropped into second place in the league standings, those two points behind the leaders but will certainly push them all through the campaign. The match saw Olympic B's Ian A Jones & Tommy Stevenson in fine nick as they both produced nice breaks of 39 in their frame wins.

Maghull RBL A continue on the tails of the top two teams as they engineered a very solid
5-1 away triumph over Olympic BC A. This outcome was their fourth win in their first five matches played and sees them continue in third position but only lie three points off the pace at this very early stage of the season and surely will be pushing for honours this term.

Upholland Social continue their solid start to the current campaign with an impressive and hard fought 4-2 away win over Aughton Institute E. The match looked like it was about to level again at 2-2 when Upholland's captain, Steve Mobbs produced an unbelievable clearance of the final four colours to seal the frame. The brown was sensational from tight on the top cushion at length to the yellow pocket then fine pots on the blue and pink but position from pink to black was absolutely pinpoint from in and out of baulk to pot a relatively easy black. This results sees them remain in fourth spot in the proceedings.

Another side who have made an excellent start to their campaign are Aughton Institute A who this time around were recording their third success in their first four matches. This week they defeated Rainford X SSC 4-2 to continue in fourth slot in the table and they also have a match in hand over all four teams above them. The match saw Aughton A's Ryan Wissett in fine touch with a well constructed break of 35 in his frame victory.

The other match played this week saw St Cuthberts get their first win of the campaign with 4-2 success over Scarisbrick NSC and this outcome sees them move up two places in the league table. The match saw St Cuthberts Phil Banks in tremendous nick with a superb break of 46 in his frame win.

Maghull RBL B sat out their free week this particular week.

Skelmersdale Wardens A remain in second position on 70 points after also suffering a reversal this time around. Division 2

This week sees new leaders at the summit of Division Two as Aughton Institute B hit top spot after the week's round of matches. The Aughton B side went into battle with club compatriots, Aughton Institute D in the Aughton 'Derby' match and after a night of tense and exciting snooker it saw the Aughton B outfit prevail by the scoreline of 4-2. The result could have been even better for them as they led 4-0 but credit to the Aughton D lads as they battled back to take the final two frames of the contest. This result was their third win in their first four matches and sees the B team level on points with two other rivals but they have won a match more than them two other sides and more importantly have a match in hand too. The match saw Aughton D's captain Vinnie Siner in fine form with a nice break of 23 at a crucial stage of his frame success.

Farmers Club moved into second position after clashing with last week's pace-setters, Aughton Institute C and coming out on top with a 4-2 triumph and the result sees them preserve their unbeaten start to the campaign.
