Merseyside Police is investigating following reports of a fail to stop collision in Southport last night, Monday 27 March.
The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Hargreaves Street when a motorbike was reported to have been in collision with a police officer and a parked car.
An 18 year-old male has been detained at the scene on suspicion of unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle. He remains in custody for questioning.
The motorbike and a helmet were recovered from the scene.
A second male left the scene and a search is ongoing in the local area.
An investigation is underway and house to house and CCTV enquiries have been carried out.
The police officer suffered bruising.
