Power has been restored at 6.15pm.
Residents in Banks have been hit by a massive power cut this afternoon.Power went off at about 1.45 and latest estimates are for re connection at 22.31.
We have a local cable fault affecting Banks. We believe that this affects your property. This fault is due to damage to our equipment. Our engineers are aware of the problem. As soon as a team becomes available they will attend site and start repairs. Our estimated time for restoration is 22:31 hours today. If this changes as the job progresses we will keep you updated. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the interruption to your supply and our engineers will work to restore your power as soon as possible. This message was updated at 16:30 hours today.

you have to laugh, the power to banks is like in the third world, on a normal day, my mate has a workshop when he turns his machine on in his workshop, his lights go out and his neighbours telly stops working, its just pathetic, massive investment is needed, but it will never happen as all the profits of energy companies now go abroad

My bit of Banks was fine this time, but I've been surprised since living here at how many power cuts we get.
Although Banks is like a different world to Southport in many ways anyway, so I tend to see it as just part of the local charm! Love it here.

What's that machine rated at?
If your neighbours' gear is affected by your electricity use, you should have your wiring checked. If that's OK, you should 'negotiate' your power bills until the problem's sorted.

Great reply,but resident tells me only one power cut,not cuts as reported in headline,,did you have more than one,,
Also surprised me to read:different world to Southport::it cant be,in my view,its different from.What you think,
