    RESULT Bath 1 Southport 2

Blue Square Bet Priemier, Saturday 10th September 2011

Southport FC pulled off their first away win of the season by beating bottom of the table Bath City thanks to goals from Dan Walker and Tony Gray.

Sandgrounders move up to 12th position in the Blue Square Premier League table after producing their third win in a row. Keeper Tony McMillan made a number of great saves to make sure Southport came home with all three points.

Dan Walker gave Sandgrounders the lead inside the first three minutes when he was played through on goal by Tony Gray and he slotted home a cool finish.

Bath came fighting back and they nearly equalised when a header from Lee Phillips was tipped over the crossbar by keeper McMillan.

Sandgrounders had a great chance to score a second goal shortly after half time when Shaun Whalley had the ball in front of goal but he shot over.

Kevin Lee then had a header saved by keeper Glyn Garner as Sandgrounders pushed forward but they nearly conceded at the other end when McMillan made a good save from Phillips.

Southport made it 0-2 when Tony Gray scored volleyed the ball home from close range from Kevin Lee’s cross.

Bath went straight down the other end and pulled a goal back when Alex Russell crossed the ball and Marley Williams fired it home.

Sandgrounders managed to hang on to pick up all three points as McMillan made another great save from a Gethin Jones header late on.

Why have you (again) used a picture from a charity match?
Nobody in that picture plays for Southport.

These sites either don't exist or haven't been updated in several years.
Presumably they're waiting for match reports to "appear later".

Before all the Watson luvies get ahead of themselves, Southports team is being run by Gary Brabin from Luton.
Where would Southport be without Walker and Poku? One has scored goals and the other is man of the match each week. The loan players are covering the inadequacies of the team that started the season.
Whilst I will enjoy watching a bit a class for a change it does feel like cheating to have better players belonging to another club wearing the Southport shirt.
No doubt Charlie will have salted away the money from the Kissock sale and come January it will not be available to sign players on our books.

Most of the teams we are against also have loan players, and they get them from the higher leagues because they are full time also.
We cannot usually get full time loanees as we are part time.
The reason we have these two is because Luton are paying all their wages which is probably more than 3 times of what we pay our top players.

Some people would be far less critical of the Chairman if he wasn't so secretive about the club's financial affairs. We are never told anything about how much we receive in transfer fees and we are left to purely speculate about how much the club made from the Sheffield Wednesday game.

We all know that the club struggles on a limited budget but it is this lack of transparency that is irksome. If Mr Clapham has nothing to hide then why hide it?

This 'report' typifies the personal agendas, poor news coverage, personal bias, wrong photos, a third of the links out-dated.

Southportgb this is a disgraceful opportunity to accurately report a positive for Southport and a company working within that community.

Sadly that doesn’t suit your agenda does it.
