Southport FC are still waiting for their first win of the 2011 season after they suffered their third defeat in a week this time at the hands of Kidderminster Harriers.

Sandgrounders kept the match goalless until 11 minutes before the end when Jack Byrne and Mark Williams scored inside two minutes for the Harriers.

Southport boss Liam Watson handed a debut to keeper Matty Nemes and he pulled off some great saves to keep Sandgrounders in the match.

Sandgrounders started the match well and had a couple of chances early on when Tony Gray had a header saved by keeper Daniel Lewis.

The Harriers put more pressure on Sandgrounders later in the half when Luke Medley had a cross that was tipped over by keeper Nemes. Then Nemes made a great save at the feet of Williams and later pushed wide James Vincent's long range drive.

Shaun Whalley had a good chance for Sandgrounders after the half time break but his volley was saved by keeper Lewis. Nemes made another good save to keep out a shot from Jack Byrne.

Kidderminster took the lead late on when James Vaughan ran down the right and crossed the ball for Byrne to tap the ball home from close range.

The Harriers then made it 2-0 when Scott Phelan played and ball through and Mark Williams fired the ball home.

Sandgrounders stay second from bottom in the Blue Square Premier League table after this result with Alfreton Town the team below them.

I have just listened to the Liam Watson podcast, and what a load of crap he talks.
He was singing the praises of the two loan signings from Luton Town. My question is... if they were any good why didn`t Gary Brabin keep them in his squad. I guess Brabin`s answer would be that they aren`t good enough. So why I have to ask are they at Southport.

The time to sack this manager is now as theres nothing like a change of manager to get a change of results as many a fixed odds punter will tell you and a couple of wins would see the Southport springboard to mid table.Imho Kidderminster and Luton are going to be challenging for promotion and we have 2 respectable draws so maybe alls not as bad as it seems and a good squad is in place and with some fresh inputus from a new manager Southport could climb the table.I suppose the big question is who is capable of fine tuning this team,i myself would look look for a manager with defensive qualities and a good knowledge of the game, someone who could be in the Steve Bruce type mould,so the 2 names im throwing in the hat are a long shot in Alan Hansen and a possible in Shaun Teale.

    How about Ronnie Moore?

I see some people are still blaming the monkey instead of the organ grinder.

They must have had their eyes and ears closed for the last 25 years.
