It was 1-1 in the second half until Akrigg was sent off. Then virtually every other line on Final Score's ticker tape readout featured another Luton goal.....

Of course it will...maybe tomorrow when you've managed to cobble something together from the Sunday papers.

A very bad result whichever way you look at it. Watson failed to put a replacement defender on immediately Akrigg was sent off and conceded a goal, then the floodgates opened.
We are weaker this season than last, then we had a centre forward McNeil. Our defence cant stop crosses and prevent headed goals. To go into the season with two of last seasons failures leading the line speaks volumes. I have yet to be convinced that the club wants to stay in this division, a full time manager is required if we have any pretensions to employ full-time players.
Tuesdays game is massive and will give us an indication of whats ahead.

Actually DEK82, I am surprised. I saw us play against Lincoln in the first game of the season and thought we played very well.
I did not get to the mid-week game but a 0 - 0 draw against Alfreton Town
away from home was a reasonable result.
Maybe the difference between those who are surprised and those who arn't is that the REAL supporters have hope for the side and actually go to the games to SUPPORT the team, unlike people like you who are happy to slag off Southport F.C. because they arn't at the top of the premier league.
When was the last time you went to a game?
Dispite todays set back I'll be there on Tuesday night SUPPORTING Southport F.C. because they are MY team and I am a true supporter.

I am a supporter who attends matches but does not have rose tinted glasses, the club really doesn't deserve unconditional support. The club has talked the talk prior to this season now lets see if they can walk the walk.
To still have Tony Gray and Steve Daly on the staff and not have a replacement for McNeil tells me something, either that Watson is not very good at his job or that Clapham is working him like a puppet. To me Watson is hobby manager, he has no ambition and that matches the club. If we keep giving the culprits excuses each week then things will never change.
If you want Blue Square North football that’s fine, we have the perfect set up for it, I for one will never watch that level of football.

If you don't like what's happening at this club do something about it instead of just talking about it. What you should do is protest at Tuesday nights game after all you the fans pay your money to watch them.

    Report from Bedford Today News

Brabin pleased with second half reaction

LUTON Town boss Gary Brabin was delighted with the second half reaction from his side after they eventually overpowered Southport 5-1 this afternoon, writes Mike Simmonds.

A disjointed Hatters were being held 1-1 at the break after Adam Watkins fine long-range strike, before goals from Will Antwi, Amari Morgan-Smith, Robbie Willmott and Danny Crow sealed an emphatic first win of the season.

Brabins said: “The first 20-25 minutes I thought we were better than what we showed.

“We’ve gone a goal down again which I’m a bit disappointed about. They’ve (Southport) come here and are fitter and stronger than last year and I thought they made it really difficult for us.

“They had a game plan, (they) take time on the goal kicks and fetching the ball, and I think a little bit of frustration was coming out.

“At half time I told the lads what I was disappointed with. We’ve got some good players and what I’ve been praising them before is about the tempo we’ve played with and the purpose too.

“I didn’t think we did that first half and mentioned it to one or two individuals who I know are better than what they showed.

“I think I got a reaction from that group of players and one of big things I wanted last year was a reaction from players on the bench and think we got that today.”

MAYBE (just maybe) I agree with you, OTS is not the brightest spark in reporting prowess - He seems to just want his reports shown, good or poor, usually the latter. I refer to other posts elsewhere whereby He shows pictures of an injured man lying on the road - unnecessary - and many other reports that are really inconsequential . (mostly Ambulance/Police/Fire chasing)
Maybe Clapham ( love him or hate him) had the right idea, if the reporting is poor, stop the reporting !

As the original report wasn't 'signed for' - Who was to know. But I was more commenting on the fact that a report would come later as stated!
At least you agree that it's a bad report, like so many others !

Well said DEK82. It doesn't matter that this post isn't by ots your views are valid and need supporting by the people of Southport who also need to make their feelings known and stand up to this idiot and his contemptible attempts at being 'your online reporter'.
