RESULT Newport County 0 Southport 3

    Blue Square Bet Premier

Southport FC continued their good run of form with a comfortable win against Blue Square Premier League strugglers Newport County.

Sandgrounders struck three times in 15 minutes in the first-half to wrap up the points. The result leaves Sandgrounders 9th in the league table after their third win on the bounce.

Newport got off to a good start and they nearly scored inside the first minute when Lee Jarvis broke free but keeper Tony McMillan made a good save.

Southport came more into the match in the first-half and they took the lead when a long throw in from Andy Owens found Simon Grand and he headed the ball home from close range.

Karl Ledsham made it 2-0 to Sandgrounders with a fantastic header from Tony Gray’s cross. Gray scored the third with a good finish after another throw in from Owens.

Sandgrounders were comfortable in the second half and Newport only had one chance when Steve Akrigg blocked a header from Wayne Hatswell.

daveball aka nob head, sticky fingers, mong, w*nker, idiot etc.

    Last 9 games = 7 wins 1 draw and 1 loss.
You must be getting fed up with Southport having lucky wins against Sunday league sides who don't play on a Sunday and are not in a Sunday league, just about sums up your level of intelligence.

UNTIL O.T.S. APOLOGISES FOR HIS UNINVITED TAKING AND PUBLISHING OF PHOTOS AGAINST THE WISHES OF SOUTHPORT F.C. JAZIAN FULLY SUPPORTS HIS TOTALLY DESERVED BAN FROM HAIG AVENUE.

Southport could reach the playoffs this season?

  12. Davva says:08/10/2011 07:45 PM
surely scoring in the last couple of minutes of a nil nil game and winning by one goal would be 'lucky'....

3-0 by half time is far from lucky, well done lads.

The end of the season and the play offs are a long way away.......but lets hope they keep this run going.

    WELL DONE LADS.

Lucky win eh thats not what radio wales where saying, their commentators described Southport as a well controlled and well drilled side that controlled 90% of the match.
I go to as many games as I can and theres nothing lucky with whats been going on there this season. what a shame some of you have nothing constuctive to say.
3 hard matches coming up the opponents will have to at their best to get anything out of the port.

At this rate we might get back to where we were 8 years ago, just because people dont support dictator clapham doesnt mean they dont want the team to do well, hopefully people in the town will start turning up at haig ave instead of supporting prem teams from miles away.

  18. pigeonboi says:09/10/2011 10:39 AM
the best bit about this season is not that we're winning, not the form we're in, not the fact we're halfway safe already, its the fact that OTS is hating it, you can't have a go at a team exceeding expectations.

Maybe karma for being a muppet Daveba....Sorry OTS

Very difficult 3 games coming up. Need to get through these without too much damage. Relatively easier after that.
