RESULT Southport 2 Alfreton Town 1
Goals from Kurtis Guthrie and Tony Gray gave Southport FC all three points against struggling Alfreton Town on Saturday.
Sandgrounders went a goal down early in the second-half but they scored twice in just two minutes as they picked up their latest win of the season.

Southport bounced back from their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Forest Green with a narrow win against 23rd placed Alfreton.
Alfreton had the better of the first-half and they created plenty of chances. Port keeper Tony McMillan did well to make a save from Nathan Arnold’s shot and then Robert Eagle wasted a chance from close range.
Jake Moult went close again for Alfreton but he fired the ball wide after poor defending from Sandgrounders.
Southport had a couple of chances at the end of the first-half when Steve Akrigg headed the ball over the bar and Adam Carden had a shot.
Alfreton went 1-0 ahead early in the second-half when Josh Law played in a corner and Adam Quinn headed the ball home.
Sandgrounders battled back and they equalised then Kurtis Guthrie fired in a shot from long range and it took a deflection off defender Adam Quinn.
Tony Gray scored the winning goal with a cool finish after he was played in by Andy Owens.

Southport remain in 3rd spot on 44 points.

-
We don't do things the easy way - either down to 10 men before half time or going a goal down at home and having to come back......great spirit and belief again though...well done Yellows. Roll on Tuesday for the trip to Wrexham to try and extend the winning away streak to 9 games......

Pity we can`t have a female ref every week. From what I`ve seen women refs are a damn sight better than the fellas.

That's Roving...
BAN HIM NOW.
P.S. Can I just say OTS has a mental problem and from what I overheard the other night, it seems to be getting worse.
(Some of the others can't stand him but are afraid to speak out.)

Wasn't that Dave Ball officiating the Alfreton game at Haig Ave ?
He would want us all to acknowledge that this season after 23 games we are on 44 points whereas last season we had accrued 22 points after 23 and ended the season on 46 points. The lads are playing with a great attitude.
