    RESULT Southport 3 Luton 3

Southport FC were made to settle for a draw after they threw away a two goal lead at home to play off rivals Luton Town at Haig Avenue.

Sandgrounders went 2-0 ahead in the first-half with goals by Tony Gray and Vinny Mulkendi but they were pegged back before the interval.

Sandgrounders were good going forward but they were punished for their sloppy defending as Luton scored twice before half-time and early on in the second-half. The Luton team included John-Paul Kissock who was brought off in the second period and Godfrey Poku was an unused sub.

Sandgrounders made a perfect start when Tony Gray's shot from the edge of the area flew past keeper Kevin Pilkington on 10 minutes.

Vinny Mukendi scored Southport's second goal with a great finish scoring in to the bottom corner after he was played in by Gray.

Luton pulled a goal back when Danny Crow headed the ball in after a cross from the right. The Adam Watkins made it 2-2 with a fantastic 25 yard effort.

Early in the second half it went from bad to worse for Sandgrounders when Simon Grand slipped and Aaron O'Connor slotted the ball home.

Sandgrounders hit back quickly but they had a bit of good luck as Tony Gray's free kick came back off the post and hit keeper Kevin Pilkington before going over the line on 59 minutes. Southport finished the match well but in the end they had to settle for a point.

    3-3 is a good result

    when you are 3-2 down

but not so good when you are 2-0 up.

Ratboy (or do you prefer Phil along with your other aliases?)

Fleetwood played Darlington who sacked their whole squad last week and had 16 registered youth players.

We played Luton Town who less than 20 years ago were in the Premier League.

    Great comparison... Mong.

Letting a 2-0 advantage slip away just shows how poor the current side is. Turn up Pay up and Shut up!

You have to go 2-0 up before a team can come back at you. Do we not deserve any credit for that? Yellows......

We didn't have to wait long! Followed by another thread on another alleged backer of OTS - I wonder if the guy knows he's put his name to the OTS ban! 'DaveBall' and 'Ratboy' - anagram of 'LAVATORY DABBLE' - says it all really, probably what they do after each goal Southport concede, and probably dabbling together in Hesketh Park toilets........
