RESULT Southport 0 Braintree Town 4

Southport FC slumped to a heavy defeat at the hands of Blue Square Premier League new boys Braintree Town at Haig Avenue on Saturday.

Braintree are in 3rd place in the league table after this result and they were too good for Sandgrounders as they scored four goals and ran out comfortable winners.

Braintree scored their first goal mid way through the first-half when Chib Chilaka beat Port defender Steve Akrigg and then took the ball around keeper Tony McMillan and slotted it home.

Shaun Whalley went close twice for Sandgrounders when he had a shot that was saved by keeper Nathan McDonald and then shot over the bar from25 yards out.

Braintree scored again from the penalty spot just before half time as Karl Leadsham fouled Andrew Yiadom in the area and Shaun Marks scored from the spot.

Jai Reason scored goal number three for the visitors shortly after the break when Kenny Davis played the ball back to him and Reason drilled the ball home from close range. Andy Yiadom scored again for Braintree from outside the area to make it 0-4.

Vinny Mukendi came off the bench to make his Sandgrounders debut but he wasted a great chance when he headed the ball wide from close range. Sub Andy Owens also had a chance for Southport late on.

I notice quite a few Braintree Town at the Cop end so how many local fans attended this match? Looks about 600 in the photographs but one can't tell by them alone. By the way Clapham out.

Couldn`t Dave `Head The`Ball have gone back to Essex on the Braintree supporters coach? I`m sure that down in the South East he`ll find lot`s of like minded souls whose IQs register as subnormal

I can't believe it every time we have a bad game there is always negative comments, complaining about Clapham and Watson.

I admit it wasn't a good performance yesterday but that doesn't mean you should slag them off, there is always going to be bad games here and there that's football, so instead of slated them support them and give them your backing.

    PS: UP THE PORT!

  20. daveball says:25/09/2011 12:42 PM
The idea of banning OTS from Haig Avenue was to stop him from reporting on matches and taking photographs, four years on he's still doing what he was doing before the ban.

Total failure from clap trap clapham-what a joker clapham has turned out to be!

    Hello Dave,
    Welcome back.
It must have been really frustrating for you waiting for their next defeat.

OK, now back under your rock.

I wonder if Ofcom, the FA, the Blue Square Prem and any other relevant official bodies will have enough clout to close this site down when I report you are hosting illegal images obtained at Haig Ave?

    Bored of you now Rodwell.

I'm sure the reporters on this site all have the necessary licence from the Football Conference and the £2 million worth of Public Liability Insurance that they need in order to take and reproduce photos from Football Conference matches.

    Can admin confirm this?

  28. onthespot says:26/09/2011 07:28 PM
YES, Onthespot had the necessary football conference licence at the time the photographs were taken plus the liability Insurance. Hope this answers your question Mr Backside.

    Bored of you now Smith.

Onthespot will continue to fight until the lifetime ban is overturned from Haig Avenue.

That'd be great if my surname was Smith. I don't share my Mum's surname. Nice try.

    No it doesn't.
I'm talking about all the pictures of SFC games taken since your ban, taken by the likes of Ontheball and Roving Eye.
