    R.I.P Dave

I have known for the last 45yrs+,through the 4th Southport Boy,s Brigade, working in Rawcliffes since he left school, and Smedley Hydro for the last 12yrs,he never ever let his disabilities get in his way,i would go as far to say he was a miracle person,he loved competing in any sporting activities, whether it was playing football, cricket, golf, snooker, pool or dominoes.
He was a person who lived life to the full, and a lot of local people who knew Dave, especially in High Park will confirm this.
A True lifelong supporter of his favourite Local team S.F.C he will be remembered by the many home fans who knew him, also including the away supporters at Haig Avenue.

Gone but will never be forgotten.A true friend,
    God Bless.
    Steve and Family

Condolences to all Daves friends and relatives.

    RIP

I never knew him, but always remember trotting off to Rawcliffes years ago with my mum to get new school uniform. I can remember seeing him in Rhyl at a Southport match when I was on holiday there.

More recently, have seen him in and around Churchtown and Lane End.

    God Bless

Just heard. Saw Dave at the Wrexham game, we were trying to get a programme for him after they sold out.

I was with Dave at Barrow, clapping the team off when we won 1-0 with a last minute goal back in the 1980s. A group of Barrow yobs from the local pub (not fans) jumped us all from behind and Dave got bottled. We were worried whether he would get over that but he was a resilient character.

Really saddened by his loss - a Southport Legend - badly missed

    RIP Dave.

Got a great memory of dave when i gave him a 100 start at snooker and it came down to a black ball game , which he duly potted down the cushion stating ' don't mess with your master ' !

    Great lad , good memories.

Didn't know Dave, but I remember him from Rawcliffes and at Southport games over the years. Always seemed a really decent sort of bloke. I agree that the Port should do something, a minute's silence perhaps, at the next home game. The least they can do to repay so much loyalty. RIP.
