It is with extreme sadness that I am informing you all of the sad passing of our Ormskirk League President, Dave Wright. Dave passed away peacefully last Sunday after a short illness.

Our sincere heartfelt condolences go to his wife, Wyn, sons Paul & Mark and the rest of the family as well as his many friends. Dave started playing league snooker back in the early 1970s for Ormskirk Comrades (now sadly defunct) were he represented the club played in the Ormskirk & District Amateur Snooker League. After the sad closure of that club, Dave to moved to play his snooker at St Annes PC for a few years before moving again to Aughton Institute which became his club for many years were he predominately represented the B team.

Dave was our Ormskirk League President for the last nine years, a role I know he treated with great honour. He was also a member of the Ormskirk League committee for many years which included the important position of treasurer. Many people will not know that it was really down to Dave that we became a subscriptor on UK League Snooker were we are able to input all our results, fixtures and league tables etc. He attended a usual monthly committee meeting back in late 2003 armed with that month's edition of Snooker Scene opened on the page for the advert for the UK League Snooker website. By the end of the meeting we all agreed to subscribe and the rest is history as we became only the second league to subscribe to the website.

All Ormskirk League snooker matches were cancelled during this past week as a mark of respect to Dave.

Dave's funeral will be held on Tuesday 24th October 2017 at St Annes church, Prescot Road, Ormskirk at 12 noon and onto Hurston Hall, Scarisbrick, Ormskirk afterwards. Dave's family have expressed that everyone are welcome to all or part of the day. May Dave rest in peace.
