Agreed - it's rather embarrassing for any Labour supporters who claim (despite their consistent failure to win any seats in Southport at any level) that "only Labour can beat the Tories in Southport". The problem for them is that they never have!

I think your selective editing speaks volumes as you're in essence concurring that

    1) it's so bad for the libs that not even too lib dem cheerleader tony Dawson probably didn't vote for them
    2) the lib dems have been on the pot (so to speak) for decades and delivered nothing
    3) despite the junk mail bombardment they came a pitiful third and have been invisible since other than the suspension of one and defection of two others. The libs must have spent a fortune on the bile filled propognda and still came third, got to be scratching head at that one!

Ultimately you're underlining that a lib vote is a wasted voted and it's very odd people getting tetchy about someone trying to achieve something positive for the town rather than petty squabbles. Incidentally Liz savage when she posts here posts under her own name, you won't even answer yes or no to if you're a councillor without scurrying away....do you have public and private political views to tell the electorate or something?

Incidentally do you know if cllr shaw voted for Cllr Maguire as he was one of the usual suspects missing from the photo ops for southports local choice?

Southport made her mind up for her when we elected Damien Moore. Off you trot Liz. ('Trot' being the pertinent word given who controls the Labour party these days)

So how do you know that? You might be Liz Savage for all any of us knows. I'm quite certain that your real name isn't "Username2016".

And, if Liz Savage really posts under her own name, how come we can't see it?

Why don't you ask her if you doubt it?

I'm asking your whether you're a councillor, you won't even answer yes or no as not that bothered by asking for your name, which probably speaks volumes as possibly you'd rather not answer than tell a lie so regularly scurry away until the next thread where you'll try and weasel to the position where you want people to believe your party as actually fine anything for the town?! As before, I'll happily say "I'm not a councillor so I'm not likely to be cllr savage", the site asked me to pick a username so I did!

So you are claiming that the site forced you to pick a username rather than use your own name.

At the same time you claim that Liz Savage posts under her own name.

There are two problems with that, aren't there?

It's a matter of record that the only people who have ever beaten the Conservatives in Southport (on more than 100 occasions over the last 40 years) have been the Lib Dems/Liberals - that's apart from one time when the Southport Party won a seat off the Tories.

So how many times have the Labour Party beaten the Tories in Southport in the last 40 years? Precisely ZERO TIMES.

That was then and this is now. Now only Labour can beat the Tories in Southport. Although if you support a Party that has not formed a government since the First World War I suppose you have to take solace in history. So come on Prasnee live in the present and vote tactically for Labour next time.

The point is that they are criticising her for taking an interest in some Southport matters when she is also a councillor in Skem... but she does it in her own time and for free... whereas DM is actually an MP in Southport AND a councillor in Preston... representing both and drawing two sets of money but that apparently is just dandy... think about it, you will get there eventually.
Tut!Tut! That is not very nice is it? Don't try to mislead people! Ms. Savage is a Councillor for West Lancs council - a position in which Ms.Savage receives the second highest allowance among all the councillors of £13,662. This is in addition to her own self employed position as a Slimming World Councillor. Damien Moore receives £5,473 allowances from Preston council plus £3719 basic - which is less than that of West Lancs to which Ms.Savage belongs to. As a point of interest - Sefton's basic councillor allowance is £8882. As I pointed out before - Damien Moore cannot resign from Preston council, no councillor can resign their post - he has to wait for the new elections to take place.
Ms. Savage volunteers her time in Southport. Great! But as was pointed out in the article, West Lancs loses out. Ms. Savage appeared in only three out of six West Lancs council meetings this year??
Ms. Savage purports to be doing all she can to protect the tourism trade in Southport - jolly good! But the Labour Council cannot find sufficient funds to use red tarmac at a cost of £860K for Lord Street because of the cuts from the much earlier Lib/Con Coalition. But they can find funds for the cost of Bootle Strand (£32.5 MILLION) a really notable tourist attraction - and they can find funding for the Cunard building where ten water taps cost £3.5 thousand each and where overall the cost of the plumbing cost £10 MILLION! So how many people have faith in what any Labour member says?

So living in Tarleton is a reason why she shouldn't be MP for Southport. So WHY have we got an MP from Preston? You bl**dy Tories jump on any bandwagon you can without thinking it through, not that thinking is a Tory trait commanding/ordering seem the natural habits of the Nasty Party and their boot lickers.

That's merely wishful thinking on your part.

There's one thing we can agree on: it's never happened yet.

Forget that. Can you explain what you think that living in Tarleton qualifies you to be a councillor for Skelmersdale?

But will happen next time. All it takes on your part is to forget any foolish aspirations to political relevance and understand that ONLY LABOUR CAN BEAT THE TORIES IN SOUTHPORT.

Why are you trying to divert from the question, are you not able to answer whether you are a councillor? It's important to know as you're on here commenting about other councillors and political parties which if you are a councillor is somewhat unprofessional as what you're doing could be seen to try and influence the electorate.

My comment about my username was tongue in cheek in case it went over your head.

You keep prattling on about whether they're local or not and it was frequently mentioned in the failed lib dem campaign but:

    1) where has "are they local" got us, you can't list one thing that's been delivered for the town.
    2) cllr Dawson wasn't local when his attempt to be saddleworth mp was aborted due to scandals about his behaviour and that he probably didn't live there
    3) cllr maguire stood for election in west Lancashire, she doesn't live there

Bit hypocritical and scraping the political reasons to vote lib barrel I'd say

The West Lancs allowance for councillors is £4842. Liz Savages additional allowance last year was for being the Mayor.

As regards attendance at meetings, there are elected councillors in Southport who haven't attended a single meeting for the last 18 month and there are plenty more who's attendance records are on a part with Liz Savage's

Sefton's purchase of the Strand is funded by a loan which will be repaid from the rental income on the Strand.

The Cunard building isn't in Sefton.
