I'd argue that poor hotel reviews copied and pasted from a hotel review site aren't news either. But if Qlocal are going to class the poor ones as news they ought to be consistent and publicise the good ones for balance. But that doesn't fit the policy of rampant negativity.

I wonder what the family who used to own the 'Brick think of what Britannia Hotels have done to what was their pride and joy. It used to be a fantastic hotel, a little tired and old fashioned toward the end of their ownership but always clean, everything worked, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good. We had our wedding reception there in 2000 and they couldn't have been more helpful, the whole day was fabulous.
Now I wouldn't house refugees from the worst slums of the third world in there. It's a filthy, hazardous disgrace, same as the Prince of Wales and Pontins. Why don't Health & Safety close them down? Britannia should have their licence to run these hotels withdrawn.

If the Britannia group up their game then that should also be news but having had the misfortune to go in some of them for functions I would be very surprised if they could make that sort of change.
Reporting the abysmal is news.

Because 99% of hotels range from slightly below average to good. There is no point in mentioning all of them. What you pay is what you get is the general rule. However when a hotel falls drastically below standard, then it needs calling out. Nothing to do with negativity.

Who on earth does not already know that any outpost of Britannia is a shambles?
If these people are literate enough to post reviews on Trip Advisor, do they not read what others have already said?
Incidentally I think the Clifton is also on the slide.
