Security Initiative as requested by multiple local residents & Businesses across Southport.

    Cllr David Barton commented...

"I note from media sources that the Police now have their own high visibility patrols out and about.

Whilst I’m disappointed that it took a public outcry to get this done, I’m pleased to see that Merseyside Police have been able to facilitate high visibility patrols around Kings Gardens and the Promenade Area.

This will serve to strengthen our Lottery Heritage Application which includes, but not exclusively an extensive funding request to restore the signature Promenade Railings there overlooking the Marine Lake".

While I appreciate that this particular suspended Conservative councillor may have a gripe against the police, does he actually have any evidence that this is only happening because of a "public outcry"?

As for Cllr Barton "noting from media sources that the Police now have their own high visibility patrols out and about", I'm surprised that he has never noticed this before, and apparently needs the press to make him aware. In fact the police have had high visibility patrols out and about since well before he was born.

Yes, very true about the police " high visibility patrols " but they will never be able to compete with this little creep when it comes to " high visibility ".

Once again yet another example of a beautiful solo picture for the " family album ".

Why does this individual not just print off some characters, stick them on cardboard, and move it around in the background so they look like his imaginary supporters?

Images of Donald Duck, or even Donald Trump would be very appropriate for starting suggestions.

There are no new resources allocated meaning that they have been moved, probably from the Town Centre. This means that in order to combat some Anti Social Behaviour, Assaults and Robberies will rise in the Town Centre.

For a living - works for his dad.
As a councillor - claims credit for things that the council would be doing anyway.

Yes a Police car pulling up someone for doing a few mph over the limit, don't suppose this Police car was equipped with ANPR and the car was not taxed insured or MOT'd you obviously asked WHY the car was being stopped. The Police are invisible because the present Prime Minister in her role as Home Secretary at the behest of that waste of air Osborne cut the Police to the bone. Glad you keep your finger on the pulse of realism.

David Barton spouting more rubbish again. The Police haven't increased patrols in the town centre as the few officers who are left after years of tory cuts to policing were already patrolling in town. All they have done recently is put a few more tweets etc. out confirming that the town is patrolled. If he really wants to do something effective how about lobbying for a better funded force. Tory cuts to Police budgets have been huge there are thousands less officers across the UK than there were in 2010.

With reference to " multiple local residents " would this " multiple " happen to be " x1 " ?

One further question in which I am quite happy to reveal my ignorance as to the workings of local politics.

I am under the impression that this individual is SUSPENDED from political activity due to being under investigation for SERIOUS CRIMINAL activity.

I am also under the impression that once one was " suspended " that meant one was no longer permitted to follow ones previous activities until such times as investigations and actions had been sanctioned and one was then allowed, or not, as the case might be, to resume ones activities.

Are there, perchance, any experts out there who could possibly enlighten me as to why this should be,please?

I suspect he's suspended only by his political party and not by Sefton Council. Though how he has the brass neck to continue with any public duties is beyond belief.
