I agree with you on this, unfortunately too many Mail readers believe the rubbish they read.

And I suppose we are to believe anything said by a Labour liar?? Touche!
As for what has been borrowed I will agree, from a BBC article Bank of England figures, that in cash terms if you add up all the years of a Labour government they have borrowed £500 billion while the Tories since 2010 have borrowed £670 billion.
But taking into account GDP and this from the BBC article:-
"During the first Labour government under Ramsay MacDonald in 1924, a loaf of bread cost less than 2d on average. Also, our economy produces very considerably more today than it did in 1924, which means it is not unreasonable for the government to borrow more.
So a better comparison to make is government borrowing as a proportion of GDP, which is a measure of everything produced in the economy.
By that measure it turns out that all Labour governments borrowed about 70% of GDP while the governments since 2010 borrowed about 40% of GDP, which is a very different picture.
So depends which way you cut your cloth.

OK, sure Gordon Brown borrowed a lot of money as a result of the financial crash, a crash caused by the financiers and bankers, now the alternative to borrowing and propping up the country was to let the banks crash, now just imagine if every one in the UK who has a bank account found their money tied up or gone, that neither bills nor wages would be paid, when in reality the majority of business' and the general public would be bankrupt, borrow or not to borrow? your call.

And the reality is..... this year, FY 2018,
1: Total public revenue is budgeted at £744.2 billion.
2: Total spending Central Government £638 billion
Local Authority £176 billion
Total Spending £814 billion
3: Deficit £-69.8 Billion with interest another £100 Billion added to the National Debt
So we are still living beyond our means "too" much expenditure "too" little tax revenue. Unless the economy grows, business is encouraged by whatever way enterprise, free market etc etc...... We are just going to get deeper and deeper into the mire.

"Sefton has an excellent track record for listening to its communities....." Yes, but that is as far as it gets! What about parking facilities, what about calling a halt to the trees being cut down, what about conserving our nature reserves, what about conserving our public Parks, etc., etc., or is it a matter of pay up and shut up!

Just a query? Much of Sefton's money goes to the Liverpool joint Council...an issue was reported this week of unfinished development work in the City?? Yet another contractor has gone bust and Chinese investors have forced another to go into liquidation as a means to get some return on their money. There is also some mention of contractor's being given new cars by the Council?? Anyone know anything about this issue? Does this mean that even more money is being totally wasted?

yet there is money to buy and do up a minging old market that no one goes to and other such grand schemes ....
the money should be spent of basics , not flittered away on projects ..

Sounds like fake news where the money goes, however as for Chinese investment, they invest in every country they effectively own the entire iron ore rights in Australia. The investment in the UK is just a sign of the times right or wrong?? But remember England once owned much of the world 150 years ago now the boots on the other foot.

Not the only one but what Brown did with Tax changes hammered nails not just one but many into the coffins of "Final Salary Pension Schemes" was paramount to illegal.
Quote from FT "Final salary schemes which are today closed to new members would otherwise have still been going had Mr Brown not dipped into their coffers"
Subsequently Governments having to buy out schemes Royal Mail and others being closed down.
He should be in court, just as bad as Philip Green etc etc, but Brown has got away with it as well.
