A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: “We were called to the railway line close to Southport station, Merseyside, on Thursday,5 May at 6.10am, following reports of a body on the line.
“Our officers attended along with colleagues from Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is currently being investigated.”
The emergency services were called to the Footbridge behind ASDA today after a body believed to be a man was found on the tracks.It is thought that he jumped off the bridge although this has yet to be confirmed.

According to what I heard this morning,early Friday,from a member of staff at Asda,it was a Female person that was found,nothing more to add,other than to send my condolences to the family of said person.Very sad news.
