The emergency services were called to the A565 Tarleton Bypass just north of the Banks turnoff following an RTC this morning. Witensses at the scene said that a motorcyclist rear ended a car.

The Air Ambulance was called but was not needed as the injured were taken to hospital by road.

This is the road that is now covered by average speed cameras.

Are there that many accidents on that road?

Can't say that I agree with you.

Bad accidents seem to be monthly occurrences, others weekly and near misses several times a day, most are caused by cars pulling out on to the main road and misjudging the speed of the traffic.
It's almost like the Bermuda Triangle!

I sincerely hope the biker makes a speedy & full recovery.
We are now on Day 12 of the average speed check, which is intended to "reduce the number of road casualties". I have seen the aftermath of 4 collisions in this period. All have been in broad daylight in clear conditions.
The two more serious looking incidents occurred within yards of of a yellow camera gantries. In addition to this morning, four vehicles were involved in a collision at the Moss Hey Lane crossroads last Wednesday around 5 o'clock, resulting in one car ending up on its roof. It is obvious that junction should be closed and a roundabout installed at Blackgate Lane.
Lancashire Road Safety Partnership’s project have already begun "a piece of research to review speed data, traffic flow and casualty information at the site to provide comparisons over time". It will be interesting to see those comparisons.

As I've thought before, since the speed cameras have been installed, there are going to be more accidents. It bunches the traffic up to closely, some doing 48, some 50, etc.
Before the speed limit came in, traffic was much more spread out. Making it 60 would have been better, as 50 on long stretches is a difficult speed to keep to, leading to frustration with lots of drivers.

Allegedly,a car had broken down in the outside lane...LAST NIGHT....this was reported to the Police, who have ticketed the vehicle, and the vehicle had NOT been towed away, and had been left overnight,as to why it was left there beggars belief with it being left on a busy by-pass,and hence the accident occurring this morning.

The big question is why didnt the Police have the car removed on Sunday evening!

I couldn't agree less - I have no trouble sticking to the limit, I have a pretty good idea when I'm going over and as that's an average speed section, I just adjust my speed accordingly. It's not rocket science.

Cameras don't cause accidents - motorists do; if you're too close to the car in front...slow down a bit, let them get away, let them have an accident if they want! Use the 2-second rule - it's not perfect but it's a quick and handy guide.

No, the car was travelling in reverse.

    Wow, your funny.

Car could have spun out. It's unusual for a bike to hit a car, Usually the other way round.

Also sounds like TDM900 could do with some refresher courses if they can't drive safely at 50mph.

The guy on the bike was probably stuck doing the same thing as the rest of us down there....constantly monitoring his bloody speedo...probably just looked up and didn't stand a chance.
