This is the document on the future of Southport which is up for discussion
tonight (Wednesday 7th December) at Southport Town Hall. Members of
the public are invite to intend and participate in the session on the
subject being discussed in the Southport Area Committee.
The Sefton Cabinet recently refused to put this document out to public
consultation They said:
"The Southport Development Framework is a high level strategic document
that is fixed at a point in time. The Framework provides a *potential
direction *of travel for Southport Town Centre, it is* not a prescriptive
document *and it will not prevent Sefton Council from exploring other
development opportunities that may emerge."

Just flicked through it for the second time & have deduced that it is a masterpiece of froth & waffle, telling us what we already know about our town and 'copy & pasting' examples of apparantly succesfull developments and attractions around the country / world.

That's one of the most pointless, state-the-bleeding-obvious, piles of steaming stuff that I've ever read. Congratulations to our illustrious Council for wasting money again.

Agree that most of it is a statement of the obvious and current situation, no doubt to justify the fees.

One sure thing is that some organisation will make a lot of money from this plan. That is the consultants who drew up the plan. There never seems to be any shortage of money when it comes to employing consultants.
Lets face it, even if every single person in Southort (or even in Sefton) agreed with the plan, it will never be implemented because there is no money for it.
It is no more than a fairytale. It is all about giving the impression that Sefton Council care about our town. Quite frankly they don't.
There is absolutely no chance that it will ever move beyond the discussion stage. As usual they are treating us as idiots. Throw the Southport peasants a few crumbs and watch them salivate. Save your excitement for Father Christmas.
