Southport Local Policing Team officers covered a wide area in one of the vans yesterday evening. Pictured are some of the locations we patrolled: Sandbrook Way in Ainsdale, Kings Gardens, Preston New Road, the Botanic Gardens and Hesketh Park.
Back out on foot tomorrow.

In other words doing their job !!!!! On the subject of police i read that they are constantly short of officers to cover Merseyside so why were there 3 giving out leaflets in Waitrose advising older drivers of a 2 hour course to self assess their driving !! Yes you read it right 3 - whats happening !!

I too was approached in Waitrose about driving assessment and wondered exactly the same thing.

Over 50 years ago Lancashire police offered advisory advanced driving courses so I went on one. Due to the help and advice given then I now have 50 year safe driving record, no claims, no accidents and a clean licence. When help is offered to improve your driving it is well worth considering taking it up.

I totally agree, but the criticism was how many Police Officers were required to hand out the leaflets when they frequently are unable to respond to burglaries etc because of lack of staff. PCSO’s would have been a better choice thus freeing up warranted officers to attend to more important work.
