Lee Hayes from Southport has established his own private security patrol.

The Sefton Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) have a vehicle which will be patrolling the streets of Southport.



The Police and the Council have distanced themselves from Mr Hayes. His profile picture on Facebook shows his vehicle apparently leaving Southport Police Station and parked strategically outside the Town Hall to give the impression that he is officially backed by the Police and Council.

Mr Hayes on his Facebook page has the following quote.

People are speculating this is private police I assure you it's not I also assure you that we are certainly not heavy handed approaching anyone we are there as support for the town weather it is police,fire,ambulance,churches,residents,businesses,public, landlords/landladies, and many many more.... We are NOT in any way a threat to any one we are there as an even body as we all know that police have been know to be too heavy handed door staff have in the past been know to be heavy handed and our units are there to record happenings WITHOUT interference. So don't jump on the band wagon when we know the council are struggling and couldn't care less about happenings or while all these churches and burglaries have been happening and yet nothing has been stepped up to stop such things. I have dedicated long hours expense and ambition to get this moving and I am not going to go down without good cause.

Mr Hayes is also appealing for volunteers for his cause.

we are currently looking for volunteers to come on board our teams looking for drivers with poss own car/van to help the community we are also looking for contributors to donate equipment we are after first aid supplies, blankets, touches, stab vests, cctv equipment, stationary and much more what ever little is a huge help. we are looking for food, drink (water, pop, tea, coffee, ect....) clothing of any kind to help the home less and the needy.
we are after safety equipment. radio system and an office. even tho we have minimal stock now there is a big ask for help of donations. we don't wish to have money donations unless in real need. we are a none profitable unit that want to make a it a safer place and assist our local emergency services in any way we can.

Would any of our critics like to join us tonight while we are walking around building estates parks and gardens streets in this mighty fine weather please give us a call we would be more than happy for you to join us mind you make sure you wrap up warm as we are wet through cold and very concerned that people may be freezing to death or making sure they are getting home savely but anyway we are still out here looking out for anyone needing out help so keep safe people anyone sees us and wants to ask questions then we Are happy to answer all of them 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 please lord look over our ill our homeless our people and our town and let tonight be a nice night and hope everyone is safe and sound amen.

Southport does not require this, Merseyside Police and Sefton council are against what you are doing with good reason. The people of Southport won't support such a militia style branding as S.E.R.T ,

I have just seen a video of this chap. he was resisting arrest while the police went to arrest him and now I have just seen his video of him outside a hospital allegedly helping someone. Whats going on here? Why is he attempting to prosecute the police for assault too???? Is he not on the side of the police?

Wonder when Sefton council will step in.... they may need to persuade him to remove the SERT As it looks like, he has there's Approval... when he actually has NO approval from anyone... maybe he should think about joining the Sally Army ... he can go quietly about his business helping others the correct way... rather than putting himself up for ridicule.

Just looking at that Twitter feed, you couldn't make it up! This one, from 3 hours ago, is a cracker: "another call for an incident on york road. someone taking the **** now. gonna crak skulls open."

The whole thing is so outrageously stupid, it really must be a spoof.

Any comments from the posing Councillor, he must be proud that someone is coming to help him clean up Southport. They could all end up in adjoining rooms in Southport's Lord St Prison when it opens.
