What exactly is Southport's contribution to major developments planned for Bootle? How does that compare to Bootle's contribution to developments in Southport?
How much money have housing projects in Southport raised for the council?
Some facts to give your rant some credibility might help.
The Memorial was built in the nineteen twenties, about twenty years after the Victorian period but is still in keeping with architecture of that period. The British Government websites will direct you to grants available for the freeing up of land paid to councils - and your own imagination may lead you to believe that Council tax will be required on each of the new homes + chief rents etc., The Labour Chair person for Sefton stated that the profits from the Golf Tournament would be of great benefit to Sefton - you can find that on the Liverpool Echo's web sites. Which is the more popular tourist attraction? Bootle or Southport?

Interesting that people in favour of this don't deny that it would be a very costly and disruptive undertaking.
I have got fairies at the bottom of my garden too! At least that is what I am told!
There are expenses allowed by the government, if it can be shown that there is a benefit to using that money. There would be a great benefit for Southport to have its own identity for then we would be subjected to our own council who would work with greater enthusiasm to promote Southport both for tourism and industry. (Very little imagination has been used to do this as yet.) This would increase jobs and open up entrepreneurial marketing - providing there is enough space for industrial sites left after housing and supermarkets have taken so much. The government benefit would be that Southport could be almost self supporting and require less money in the future. Yes, it would be long term and it would need expert management - which also raises another question - there would have to be a highly experienced business person to head the project as opposed to councillors.

....and yet in other posts you've banged on about Sefton wasting "our money" re. council tax etc. ... and you pay nothing here... you are not even part of LCR... you don't live here, don't pay anything here... so basically you're just an agitator when it comes down to it.
