Southport FC have confirmed that striker Steve Daly has retired from the game.
Daly is set to play his final match for Sandgrounders on Saturday in the game against Braintree. Daly has put his decision to retire down to family commitments.
Daly re-joined Southport for a second spell in 2008 with manager Liam Watson from Burscough. He first joined the club after signing from Runcorn 2003, he won the Conference North Championship title with the Sandgrounders in 2005 and 2010.
Southport boss Liam Watson said: "Steve has sat down and discussed his situation honestly and openly. I have signed Steve twice here at Southport and also at Runcorn and Burscough so we go back a long way. Steve knows the commitment I am demanding and feels for a number of reasons he can't give the club the time they require."
