Less than 100 yds from Southport Police Station a group of men were openly drinking alcohol at 10.00 am today.
After consuming the alcohol the empty tins were tossed to the floor. There are signs saying that its an alcohol free zone and the fine for consuming alcohol is up to £500.
It appears that none of the passing police officers could be bothered to enforce the laws or the litter wardens who were nowhere to be seen.

Why are you surprised?
We hardly ever see a Police foot patrol in Southport.... especially since the 'powers that be' saw fit to practically close Southport Police Station.

As a daily traveller to Lord St,I feel you are a bit unfair ,As we see support Officers in Attendance on Lord St,
What are your timings when you state, " We hardly ever see a Police foot patrol in Southport "
We await your reply,

Why did the council bring in a bye-law that the police or council don't enforce?
I remember the council bring in the no drink ban on certain areas of town but have not seen it enforce nor seen people fined in the paper.
When the 20mph speed limit was balloted the police stated
that they wouldn't enforce it. So why bother paying all that money for the consultation, the 20mph signs, the poles and the labour to put them up?

So that a certain cyclist wouldn't stamp his feet and scream and scream until he was sick.
