With ten games unbeaten, this week sees a cup double for the Port as they take on Solihull Moors in the Buildbase FA Trophy and Tranmere Rovers in an Emirates FA Cup replay.

This current fine form, which has seen both Liam Watson and David Morgan pick up awards for November, all stems down from the cup success.

The current run in the various cup competitions have brought confidence back to the side and to the club.

Saturday
The first game of the weekend sees Solihull visit the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

In the previous round of the FA Trophy, Southport needed a replay to overcome Chester.

After a goalless tie at home, Liam Watson’s side made the short journey to the Deva were Morgan and Archer were on target to see them progress.

Meanwhile Solihull, who ply their trade above Southport in the National League, are currently enjoying a solid season and currently sit in fifth.

Like Southport, this game comes ahead of an FA Cup replay for Solihull, with a 0-0 draw at home earning them a trip to Bloomfield Road with the prospect of playing Arsenal on the cards.

The Moors are also enjoying a long unbeaten run, with their last defeat being in the league against Barnet at the start of October.

Their last victory came a few weeks ago, where they triumphed over fellow National League high-flyers Harrogate, with a 2-0 win.

One of the scorers in that game, Adi Yussuf, has been important in Solihull’s good form with eight goals so far this season, with strike partner Daniel Wright only one behind on seven.

Monday
Following on from Saturday’s game, Southport will be straight back into action on Monday for the replay against Tranmere.

The two sides will be playing for the chance to host Champions League side Tottenham Hotspur in the third round.

Since the last tie, Rovers have played one league game, beating Cambridge 1-0 with Norwood adding another to his tally for his 15th league goal of the season.

That victory also moved Tranmere up in League Two and put them in the playoff positions ahead of their next game away to Notts County on Saturday.

A reminder the replay is now sold out. Thank you for your fantastic support.

Both games this weekend will be big tests for Southport, with huge rewards on the line.
