During the week of The 146th Open Championship, Southport will be running the fantastic FREE ‘Summer of Golf' event. With interactive golf activities, golf exhibitions and lots more it will be a great place to spend some time, whether you’re a seasoned golfer or new to the game. It will centre around the Town Hall Gardens and The Atkinson, right in the heart of the town.



First Tee Experience……….you are immersed in the experience of being on the first tee at Royal Birkdale. Those waiting in the queue become the grandstand and the pressure will be on when you’re name is called to the tee.

Simulator - Golf simulators are a great hit with all ages, offering you a chance to play some of the world’s most famous holes.

Bunker Challenge - The bunker challenge allows you the opportunity to try your hand to chip out of the sand from within a realistic and challenging bunker.

Coaching Zone - Offers visitors of all ages and abilities an opportunity to improve your game, the inflatable golf nets create a fun and memorable atmosphere.

Long Putt Challenge - A 20m long, hole in one challenge! Modelled on famous holes, this impressive miniature version features all the trees, fairways and bunkers.
Putting Courses - Fun for all the family, Mum, Dad and the kids can all enjoy your time together playing mini golf. Obstacles and twists and turns are there to spice things up.


Peter Finch and Rick Shiels will be giving their thoughts on the day's play between 19:00 - 21:00 on Thursday 20th to Sunday 23rd in the golf zone. There is also a chance to win one of four live lessons with them...details to come soon!

Golf and Glamour: Fashion on the Fairway from the Nineteenth Century to Today - The Atkinson

This exhibition explores the ever-changing styles of the sportswear that has showcased on the famous Fairway. Expect to see blazers, boaters and Argyll sweaters as well as clothing items contributed by golfing celebrities including Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington!
Hole in One! Classic Golf Cartoons - The Atkinson

A chance to view and buy a piece of unique golfing cartoon artwork from some of our best-loved illustrators, including William Heath Robinson, Louis Wain and Lawson Wood.
