The Atkinson reminisces back to a time when chilli con carne was adventurous; banana splits were all the rage, Babysham was the drink to have and MTV changed the way we listened to music.

This September we are dusting off our vinyl, pulling up out legwarmers and taking a trip back to the 80s with a weekend of music, vintage, workshops, film and food!

Leading the trip down memory lane on Friday 15-Saturday 16 September are two 80s legends taking to the stage Nik Kershaw and Hue & Cry!

Brothers Patrick and Gregory Kane formed Hue and Cry in 1983, the duo made a huge impact in the late 80’s with the albums ‘Seduced and Abandoned’ and ‘Remote’ as well as the massive hit singles such as ‘Labour of Love.’ To date Hue and Cry have sold in excess of two million records worldwide. Hue & Cry perform on Friday 15 September, tickets £19.

An Evening with Nik Kershaw on Saturday 16 September is an intimate event that follows the success of his 2014 Me, Myself and I tour.

The English musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist made his way to the top in the 1980s as a teen idol. With work spanning over nearly four decades, 9 albums and top hits like I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, Wouldn’t It Be Good and The Riddle.

This promises to be an evening of intimate songs and stories in the company of one of the UK’s most respected songwriters. Tickets £25-£20.

If you are looking for a full night out – why not have a pre-show 80s themed meal in the new café A Great Little Place opening in September. The award-winning eatery will be presenting a two course menu for £13.50 – but remember it is an 80s weekender so look out for some favourites!

Saturday 16 September is a busy day with the FREE Vintage & Makers Fair running 11am to 4pm on the ground and first floor.

Expect the very best of vintage as a marvellous and eclectic mix of vintage clothing; accessories, jewellery and home ware will all be up for grabs.

For this very special 80s themed weekend we are particularly looking for vinyl’s, 80s furniture, clothing or comics.
