A Southport foodbank is appealing for more help with its annual supermarket Christmas collections next month.

Following the success of the collection earlier this month, volunteers are needed to help Shoreline Church gather donations of food and money at Morrisons at Winter Gardens in the town on Thursday 6th and Friday 14th December.

These donations provide a significant boost to the Shoreline foodbank which is open six days a week and served 13,000 people last year.

Rachael West, Volunteering Worker with Sefton Volunteer Centre - part of Sefton CVS - commented: “At a time when foodbank use is at its highest in the UK, donations are more vital than ever,

“This is especially true at Christmas time when demand for foodbank services is expected to triple, based on previous years.”

Collection volunteers are required for three-hour shifts during the two days. These run from 9am to 12 noon, 12 noon to 3pm and 3pm to 6pm.

People who wish to volunteer their services should either email simon@shorelinechurch.org.uk or call 07880 601217 to get involved.
