Theres been a lot of grumbling on here about the price and content of the airshow...

however its great to see the town bursting at the seams with visitors.

I was in town on saturday and the marine lake and kings gardens were really busy. All the attractions, hire boats, pitch and putt, etc all looked to be doing good business. Queues at every chippy and ice cream stall.

The weather was also kind and lasted out the duration of the show.

Good day, excellent show, good value for money, I would say a hell of a lot of people didn't agree with all the moaning minnies.

Fabulous pictures and video, thanks. I love the 2 shots of the beach looking so busy. Thanks for the excellent weather given how unpredictable it has been this summer

Aren't the last 2 photos the Tornado ?

" Vulcan roars in ??? ", think my hearing aid must not have been working. Mrs Old Duffer had to draw my attention to its arrival which was more of a stately glid to a low exhaust whistle.

Could perhaps have been looking at the wrong plane; or maybe I was at the wrong show even!

Looking at the pictures of the beach ( the planes are brill ! ) but how many folks, at 9-00 a head, how many cars , at 6-00 per car ?? Concessions from traders etc. How much did they raise ?? But more importantly, what are they going to do with it ??

I imagine they raised thousands and thousands of pounds and I am sure that money will go back into projects such as refurbishing the Marine Lake Bridge, re-surfacing the many pot holed roads, encouraging new business and shops to the town centre and maybe even trying to restore the beach from a baron marshy wasteland it is into the former smooth sands that once stood there.

i think the air show was done on the cheap for maximum profits i was disapointed with it compared to other years there where no where near enough planes and after every plane went aou got fter it 5 mins or less there was always an annoucment saying we will have a short break now that lasted 15 to 20 mins every time very few planes i was there from start and only saw at a guess 10 planes helicopters and only one or two in years gone by you could expect at least 3 or 4 of what ever was on evan red arrows did not turn up i full strenth ripped of by sefton again .

The reason that The Red Arrows flew only 7 planes is a mark of respect for all their displays this year for their 2 colleagues tragically killed last year, nothing to do with Sefton Council.

Must have been at a different show, The Red Arrows have been flying a 7 strong team all season out of respect for 2 members killed at the start of the season, the only noticeable delays in the show were while the broken down truck was removed from the beach, then during the departure of the light aircraft and micro-lights.

It may of course be beyond your understanding, but no aircraft can enter the show fly zone until the previous aircraft has cleared the area plus take into account the Sea King was called out on a call and all in all pretty well scheduled.

I find it strange that some can find plenty to moan about, yet on the airshow forums nothing but good comments, bear in mind those posters are regular airshow goers and not easily impressed.
