Weapons And Ammunition Recovered On Merseyside.

A sawn-off shotgun, a gas-powered adapted revolver and a quantity of ammunition was recovered in three separate incidents on Merseyside.

At just after 10am yesterday, Thursday 18 May, officers executed a warrant at a property in Huddleston Road, Wavertree.

A large amount of ammunition was forensically recovered. A further search led to the recovery of a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs and two vehicles.

A 22 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and possession of ammunition.

At 1.35pm officers conducting an open area search in Commercial Road, Kirkdale, recovered a sawn-off shotgun. The weapon has been forensically recovered.

At 7.55pm in response to community intelligence a search was conducted of premises on Stonebridge Lane, Fazakerley, and a gas-powered adapted revolver was recovered.

A 32 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a section one firearm.

Investigations are ongoing into the incidents.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Tivendale said: “We know the harm that firearms and drugs can cause on our streets and the recovery of these weapons and ammunition together with a quantity of drugs represents a significant step in reducing the harm and misery they can bring to our communities.

“Removing the blight of guns from our communities is a priority for the whole of the force and I would urge the community to continue to come forward with information which could assist us.”

Anyone who has any information about where guns are being stored in our communities is asked to contact the gun crime hotline 0800 230 0600 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
