A question has been asked (on the TV) of one of the MP's, why there are so few women Train Drivers?
Personally I can't imagine a more boring job than being a Train Driver.
You do not have to think about an alternative route if something has occurred to 'block' your usual route (which you do if driving on the road).
Why is this such an issue?
Are there hundreds of women out there who actually WANT to be Train Drivers?

At £63k basic salary for a 35 hour week with Virgin Trains there are plenty who would love this position.
It's a very responsible safety critical role very similar to an airline pilot being responsible for up to 600 people travelling at 125 mph.
This post takes years of training.
Virgin have women train drivers and one actually is from Southport!

Probably the long inflexiable hours, awkward start and finish times, travel to work when there's no public transport and it's not compatible with family life.

There's a simple explanation, there aren't any shops to look at.
