I can fully understand this,as not everyone there will have access to the internet, or has simply not been told the facts yet,but indeed it is a rather complex situation requiring a good many hours of research and study.A gentleman there this eve, told me he was in the forces ,many years ago and used the paths even back then ! 1945...!,thanks all who turned out.
Will the evidence forms be available online? My family and I have walked the paths for over 40 years and if we can help will be more than happy to do so.

i dont live near this path or have any views on it either way... but you cant just tresspass on private land then say you have a right to do so... would you like it if i walked through your garden with my dog or horse every day?

I find that quite sad, but I'm afraid he's brought it on himself.
Let’s hope when he crooks he will be sent up the flue, and not buried in Banks, or Hesketh. We wouldn’t want the ground contaminated would we!

Do a bit of reading about this in the above posts and then, if you think it necessary, come back with a less silly comment.

A very narrow view there, you obviously have no idea of the law and rights of way,do you want to close every path in the UK that goes over private land ? Because that is one hell of a lot of paths need closing If your vision was implemented!
And sorry YES you can walk over private land if that pathway/ track has proven established usage over a period of 20 years or more, and this is the process a2b are going through now.

With all due respect, a path with historical usage and a domestic garden really aren't the same at all.

I recall a similar incident some time back in a much smaller West Lancs village, in this case a long established public footpath ran very close to the back of a landowners house after he had extended his property.
This guy took it into his own hands to block access, was somewhat miffed to have people walking through his nice new garden, losing the track of the path and finishing up tramping all over the place.
The council got involved, made him take down the extension to his property ( gone beyond planning permission ) and made him reinstate the footpath at his expense and dumped a load of costs on his head.
Just to rub it in, the council also decided that while the demolition was going on it was dangerous for walkers to use the correct path, so the route was temporarily diverted straight across his front garden, with the little reminder that should he take too long complying with the decision then the re-routed footpath could very easily become an established right of way.
Public footpaths or established rights of way take priority over any ownership of land, farmers have been prosecuted for putting animals onto land crossed by footpaths, when those animals could be considered dangerous, or ploughing up the footpath, parking machinery on the path etc etc.
