Art and Design students at Southport College have been chosen to exhibit their artwork in Kings Gardens in Southport, as part of an ongoing community project.

Students creative designs are being showcased in art boxes around the seafront gardens, which were orignally opened by King George V more than a century ago.

Artwork currently on display includes designs by Level 3 Extended Diploma and Level 4 Foundation Diploma students and will be changed every few weeks.

Curriculum Leader of Art and Design, Kelly Broughton, said, 'This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to get their work seen by the public. We are always keen to produce work that has an impact within our local environment and enhances the area for the local community.'

The Art Boxes were installed as part of the ongoing regeneration of Kings Gardens, a project which commenced in 2012 after the park was awarded more than £4 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) through their Parks for People programme.

A group of students from Southport College will also be painting a mural in Kings Gardens during April.
