Community Crusaders in Hesketh Bank

At a recent meeting, the Trustees of Hesketh Bank Community Centre decided to open their doors on the last Saturday of every month to provide a helpdesk service for local residents.

Steve Kirby, Chairman of the Community Centre, explained, “During my recent local election campaign, I became aware that one of our residents issues is dealing with Officialdom when trying to access Council Services, especially for our older residents who may not be used to using computers because it’s becoming increasingly difficult to speak to someone directly. So, I proposed the idea of a type of a helpdesk, where we will provide a few computer savvy volunteers to assist.”

The sessions will be held between 10am and 11am on the last Saturday of every month in the Front Hall of the Community Centre. The next session will be on 29th September.

Steve, continued, “It will be staffed by a voluntary team of ‘Community Crusaders’ to advise on who to contact for which services, and if need be take it up with the relevant body on your behalf. We will keep track of all the issues reported and of any progress made in getting them resolved.”

He concluded, “If you want to discuss a problem, but can’t visit the Community Centre please call me on 07766 367550.”
