Officers from the Southport Local Policing Team worked together with British Transport Police and Nothern Rail Revenue Protection Officers on an operation at Birkdale train station earlier today, Wednesday 24th June.
These operations are not solely about those who travel the railway network without paying. They also allow us to identify known offenders who use the Northern Line to commit crime.
Local residents and rail users should expect to see more operations like this at local stations across the area.

I hope this will be a common sight in Birkdale - for far too long, generations of criminals have been using this free flight corridor to and from Southport for their illegal activities. By closing the door will mean less crime in the town.
