Disappointment for chicken lovers as KFC runs out. Both Southport outlets are closed until they get a new delivery.

Things were not so finger-licking good for disappointed fried chicken fans after problems with a new distribution system forced the closures.

Last week, KFC switched its delivery contract to DHL, which blamed "operational issues" for the supply disruption.

"We've brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they've had a couple of teething problems - getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!" it added, apologising to customers for the inconvenience.

"We won't compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu or shortened hours."

The statement listed KFC restaurants that were still open despite the problems.

DHL said: "Due to operational issues, a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed. We are working with our partners to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience."

😂😂. Quote: We won’t compromise on quality, so several of our restaurants across the UK are closed”.
So they’ve ditched Bidvest, who’ve been successfully carrying out the “pretty complex” operation of delivering to over 900 outlets, in favour of DHL, who have immediately shown that they aren’t up to the job.
Seems to me that KFC have very much compromised on quality.

Might be a blessing in disguise, since the "Majority" of us eat way too much crap food anyway.

Good job they didn't pick Herm knees some of the chicken would have been thrown on the path and fake signatures would have been put on the delivery notes to say they have had it.

Most large businesses are now run by accountants, not managers, so if they can save a few quid on deliveries (which won't be passed on to customers) they will.

This appears to be the consequence of cost-cutting by people who don't have any involvement in the actual logistics of the business.

    Latest from KFC 20/02/18:

It said that in the restaurants owned by the chain, staff on short-term contracts would be paid the average hours worked per day over the past 12 weeks, while those on salaries would be paid as normal.
"Franchisees will be seeking their own independent advice, but we're encouraging them to adopt this policy too," said the chain.

So, if you paid a six-figure sum to buy a KFC franchise, the company's response to a problem that they have caused entirely, is "Hard luck and pay up".
