Division 1
This week saw Champions elect, Southport SC sit out their free week in the First Division of the Ormskirk & District Amateur Snooker League, and as a result they had their commanding advantage cut to a staggering fourteen points with a match in hand over their nearest rival. Les Dodd SC who lie second in the league table cemented that position as they comfortably defeated Aughton Institute A 5-1 and now hold a twelve point lead over the side directly below them, this match also saw Les Dodd's Gerry Canning in superb form as he sealed this weeks 'Break of the Week' accolade with an excellent break of 54 in his frame success, Gerry's contribution was compiled early in the frame with some fine pots and positional play around the pink and black ball area of the table, unfortunately Gerry missed a centre pocket colour but with his next visit to the table cleared the final two reds with colours and the remaining six coloured balls to record a break of 38. Gerry moved to the area in 1998 and began playing for Aughton Institute from the 1999-2000 season making an immediate impact, Gerry captured the Individual Championship (The Biro Cup) and completed a hat trick of titles as he retained it the following two campaigns, he also won the First Division Title last season with his team mates after a number of near-misses playing for Aughton Institute and moved to Les Dodd SC at the beginning of this campaign to represent them, Gerry was also a member of the victorious Ormskirk Inter League side who triumphed in the second UK League Snooker Tournament in December 2010. Maghull RBL A continue in third place after a 4-2 triumph over Stanley Club A, the outcome sees the Burscough outfit remain in fifth slot. The other match in the elite Division saw Stanley Club B end their evening with a solid 5-1 home victory over struggling Upholland Social to remain in fourth spot. Other notable breaks this week were – P Wilson (Stanley Club B) 47 & 33, S Weldon (Aughton Institute A) 38, R Wilson (Stanley Club A) 37, K Connop (Maghull RBL A) 34, P Tyndall (Les Dodd SC) 33 & R Taylor (Stanley Club A) 32.
Division 2
The Rainford ESC A bandwagon goes marching on as this week they recorded another victory to continue at the summit of Division Two, this time around they defeated Kensington House 4-2 to increase their advantage to a very healthy nine points and a place in the First Division is looking more and more likely as the weeks pass by. St Cuthberts A continue in second position despite their 4-2 reversal at the hands of Scarisbrick NSC and will need to improve their results if they are to push for promotion, the outcome sees the Scarisbrick team unchanged in league position lying in sixth. Skelmersdale Wardens A who occupy third place also suffered defeat this week as they lost 4-2 to Olympic BC, the Walton outfit continue in fifth spot, the match also saw Skelmersdale Wardens' John Martland in fine form with an excellent break of 37. The other match in this Division saw Aughton Institute B defeat Upholland Conservative 4-2 in the bottom of the table clash and this sees the Upholland team four points adrift at the bottom of the table. Maghull RBL B, who also lie unchanged in league position in fourth slot, sat out their free week this time around but do now have a match in hand over the three teams above them. Other notable breaks this week were – S McBrinn (St Cuthberts A) 31 & C Dunn (Olympic BC) 20.
Division 3
Skelmersdale Wardens B continue to pile on the pressure at the apex of the Third Division and recorded their eleventh success of the campaign with a 4-2 triumph over Aughton Institute C, the result sees them continue to lead proceedings by a massive fourteen points, the match also saw Skelmersdale Wardens' Keith Carter in solid form with a nice break of 27 in his frame win. The second and third placed teams clashed this week and at the end of a tense affair, Aughton Institute D came out on top with a 4-2 victory over Stanley Club C, this result sees the Aughton outfit extend their lead over their conquerors to five points and remain in second position, the Burscough team continues in third spot. Rainford ESC B defeated struggling Skelmerdale Wardens C 5-1 to move into fifth slot in the league table. The other match in this Division saw Farmers Club overcome Lathom & Burscough RBL 4-2. This week saw St Cuthberts B sit out their free week and remain in fourth place but also have an important match in hand over the three sides above them.
