Statement from Formby High School regarding rumours that Art has been dropped as a regular subject.

Formby High School have been criticised on social media regarding the rumours that Art has been dropped as a regular subject.

A spokesperson from Formby High School said: "This statement is provided in response to a comment posted on Twitter on 21.09.17 regarding Art at Formby High School and to ensure accurate information is in the public domain."

"I can confirm that Art has not been dropped as a regular subject."

"All students study Art in Years 7 and 8 as part of the Art and Technology carousel. In Year 9, students have the option to continue Art where they follow a course that prepares them for GCSE. Art is one of the school’s most popular GCSE option subjects and we currently have 25 students taking Art A Level."

"Art is a very popular subject amongst the students of Formby High School from Years 7 to 13 and they achieve excellent results at GCSE and A Level. If you would like to find out more about our Art department or view the wonderful work that students produce, please feel free to contact the school."
