The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 1 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M6 Junction 33 Lancaster
A project is taking place to repair bridges carrying the M6 over local roads. The work involves routine concrete repairs and installing new safety barriers along the southbound carriageway just north of Junction 33. The work is due to be completed by Friday 20 December. Some lane closures and a 50mph speed limit will be in place.

M6 Junction 38 Tebay
A contraflow system is in place on the M6 near Junction 38 at Tebay as part of a major refurbishment of a motorway bridge which carries the M6 over the River Lune. Southbound traffic will be directed into lanes on the northbound carriageway while the bridge is closed for the repairs. Two lanes will run in each direction and a 40mph speed limit will be in place. The project is due to be completed by March 2014

M55 Junction 1 Broughton
Lancashire County Council is carrying out improvement work at the roundabout linking Junction 1 of the M55 with the A6 at Broughton to reduce delays at one of Preston's worst congestion hotspots. The scheme will widen the junctions with the A6, add traffic controls to all junctions, and make it safer to use for pedestrians and cyclists by installing new crossings while retaining the existing subways. The work is expected to be completed by December, and diversions will be in place when roads are closed.

M57 Junction 1 Huyton
A short section of the M57 will close every weekend for up to eight weeks from Friday 20 September to allow Knowsley Council to carry out work on the A5300 Knowsley Expressway towards Speke and Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The southbound link road from the M57 onto the Expressway, south of Tarbock Island interchange where Junction 1 of the M57 meets Junction 6 of the M62, will be closed each weekend. The weekend closures will start at 10pm each Friday and last until 6am on the following Monday morning, with work expected to be completed by Monday 11 November. A diversion will be in place.

M60 Junction 11 Irlam
Maintenance work is being carried out at Junction 11 of the M60 which will require some slip roads to be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am. The project is due to be completed by Saturday 30 November. Diversions will be in place when slip roads are closed.

M60 Junction 25 Bredbury to Junction 1 Stockport

The work will take place between 10pm and 5am during weekdays and between 10pm and 7am at weekends, and will require some lane and slip road closures.
