Claremont hotel
I'm doing a bit of research about William Atkinson, who moved to Southport in late 19th century and bought the Claremont Hotel to turn into his home. I think it was on the prom and have narrowed it down to what is now Byng House but it could have been demolished. Does anyone know where it was?

Byng House is on the Promenade as you suspected. It is a listed building so unlikely to be demolished. Owned I think by the British legion.
Best wishes for your research.

Thanks, Brian. That seemed like the only substantial buiding on the prom that would be fit for a 19th century millionaire. Good to have confirmation.
