    Clifton Rd Silver Jubilee

Found this old piccy that was posted in the Visiter of the Clifton Rd Jubilee Party of 1977. I'm on it somewhere. It's a pity I can't post it in Hi-Res. I may try and split it and post it in sections.

Which end of Clifton Rd, Cypress or Butts Lane end was the pic taken?
It has been said that when helping people change their behaviour – “the spirit in which help is offered” is the most important aspect, more than the degree of skills and knowledge of the helper!

We had a big party at Victoria Methodist Church Sussex Road on that day. We dressed the children up even their prams. Spent hours sewing bunting etc. They still use the same bunting ( flags on tape) now, it was out on the trees etc 2 weeks ago.

This photo of Clifton Road was on an ebay auction recently.
It was unsold so I expect it will be relisted.

They would have known my sister and her family then, 2 doors down. She moved away around 1988. It's a small world.

Great pic......note the railway track set into Butts Lane for the coal trains from Hakfkrt Street sidings to the Crowlands gas works. I rode on the engine, both steam and later diesel many times as a boy.

Lucky you.Mr Hamble would have loved that.

Of course that end of Clifton road is a cul de sac now.
I visited that area as a child and remember fields and hills
on one side of Foul Lane.

Once I found a traveller family with baby in a caravan.
I took them cakes and toys.
